The reverse features a striking depiction of the Red Dragon of Wales. The mighty, winged beast holds a coat-of-arms shield bearing four lions, a reference to Wales’s heraldic heritage. The Queen’s Beasts series was inspired by the ten heraldic figures that stood at the entrance to Westminster Abbey during Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953.
