The Perth Mint in Australia has been celebrating the Chinese lunar year for years. The first Lunar series was issued between 1996 and 2007. The project proved extremely popular among investors and collectors, which is why a second series was created, and we are now admiring designs from the third series.
The Year of the Rabbit gold bullion coin is the fourth offering in the Lunar III collection, following coins featuring the mouse, ox, and tiger.
Coins minted from pure 999.9 gold are sought after not only by investors looking to secure their capital, but also by collectors. Each Lunar series consists of 12 coins corresponding to 12 animals, making it a real treat for those fascinated by Chinese culture and the zodiac.
The reverse is designed by Ing Ing Jong. It depicts a rabbit jumping among the grass. Next to the animal is the Chinese character for rabbit, the inscription "RABBIT 2023," and the letter "P," which is the mark of The Perth Mint.
The obverse features the image of Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history. The inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA," the weight, fineness, and face value of the coin are placed around the circumference of the coin.
