Description of the 2024 Year of the Dragon 1/4 oz gold coin
The Australian Year of the Dragon 2024 gold coin, weighing ¼ troy ounce, is a wonderful way to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Wood Dragon. The Lunar III series design is the fifth edition referring to the Chinese lunar-solar calendar. Previous editions were: Year of the Rat 2020, Year of the Ox 2021, Year of the Tiger 2022, and Year of the Rabbit 2023.
This richly decorated coin is legal tender. Each bullion coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
Appearance of the 2024 Year of the Dragon 1/4 oz gold coin
The reverse of the coin depicts a dragon in all its glory. It is set against a background of stylized mist and waves. The Chinese character for dragon and the inscription DRAGON 2024 are engraved here. The mint mark P125 stands for the 125th anniversary of The Perth Mint.
The obverse was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the dates of her reign, 1952-2022, as well as the weight, fineness, and denomination.
Historical overview
Unlike our calendar, the Chinese year usually begins between January and February, and its start date is variable. The Chinese based their calendar on the moon and its phases, believing that they influence human well-being. Used since the 2nd century BC, the lunar-solar calendar divides the year into 12 months of 29 and 30 days. Every so often (7 times in a 19-year cycle), a 13th month is added.
People born in 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952, 1940, 1928, and 1916 belong to the sign of the dragon. The next people born under this sign will be born in 2024. These people are characterized by their wit and are well-liked in their environment. This, in turn, may be due to the fact that dragons are free spirits by nature.
People born under the sign of the Dragon are intelligent and charismatic. They are courageous, hardworking, and optimistic about the future. They are usually individualists, but often have great personal charm, which makes it easy for them to win over other people. They often stand out from the crowd.
On the other hand, people born under the sign of the Dragon can be characterized by impatience or quarrelsomeness. This is due to the fact that these people know what they want and find it difficult to give it up. They demand a lot from themselves, but also from others. They are often ambitious, sometimes excessively so. Interestingly, professions in which people born under the sign of the Dragon should excel include lawyer, IT specialist, psychiatrist, engineer, and architect.
As a rule, the Chinese Dragon focuses more on his professional career than on starting a family or his love life. But be careful, because it's easy to fall in love with him!
