Historical overview
The Australian Lunar Series III collection, produced by the Perth Mint, continues a rich tradition of minting spectacular coins featuring animal motifs from the Chinese lunar calendar. The reverse design changes each year to reflect the Chinese lunar calendar, and 2021 was the Year of the Ox. People born under the sign of the Ox, i.e., those born in 2021, 2009, 1997, 1985, 1973, and the subsequent 12-year cycle, are described as kind, intelligent, honest, and trustworthy. They are appreciated for their strong work ethic, logical thinking, and calm disposition. They are often considered great leaders.
