The reverse of the coin features an image of the Egyptian god Anubis in the form of a dog, located at the top left; below is the date range 1862–2012, which refers to the period of the museum's activity, and in the rim, on a separate plane, there is an inscription commemorating 150 years of the National Museum in Warsaw, which creates a clear and balanced jubilee composition. The obverse focuses on the emblem of the Republic of Poland – a crowned eagle, placed centrally against the background of an inscription indicating the issuing country and the year of issue; the rim around the eagle features inscriptions identifying the country and the date, and below the emblem there is a small mint mark, which emphasizes the official nature of the coin. The entire design is characterized by a clear combination of figurative and textual elements, which facilitates the identification of the theme and gives the coin a commemorative and artistic character.
