Historical overview
The evening grosbeak is an impressive bird inhabiting areas of Canada. Its name comes from its characteristic strong beak, which resembles a cone. The upper layer of the grosbeak's plumage is brightly colored, making it easily recognizable in the forested areas of Canada. Males of this species are distinguished by their bright yellow plumage on their head, back, and wings, while females have more subdued colors. This bird mainly inhabits coniferous and mixed forests, particularly mountainous areas and taiga. The evening grosbeak usually forms flocks, especially during the winter season, when it moves around in search of food. Its diet includes conifer seeds, as well as fruits and buds. Another characteristic feature of the grosbeak is its melodious song, which fills the surroundings during the mating season.
Manufacturer
As Canada's independence from Great Britain grew, so did the need to mint its own coins. Therefore, in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint was established and has since become one of the most important mints in the world. To date, all coins from the Royal Canadian Mint bear the portrait of the reigning British monarch.
The shares of the Mint are held in trust for the Crown of Canada.
The Mint produces all Canadian circulation coins and designs and manufactures collector coins made of precious metals—gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins, medals, medallions, and tokens. It also offers gold and silver refining services.
Today, the Royal Canadian Mint sets the standard in minting technology and numismatic design, reflecting its position and reputation.
