VIOLET GEMSTONES

What should you choose if you are looking for jewelry with purple stones? Amethysts, of course! But that's not the only option. Purple can also be tourmaline, tanzanite, topaz, zircon, and many other stones. How about yellow-purple ametrine? Here are our suggestions for purple gemstones.

AMETHYST

Amethyst is the most popular purple gemstone. It is a purple, transparent variety of quartz. It can be purple, violet, or purple-violet. If you like purple jewelry, definitely go for amethysts.

TANZANITE

We have already described tanzanite in our post about blue gemstones. It has a unique color that is somewhere between blue and purple. So if you like purple but prefer a more delicate shade than the vivid purple of amethysts, go for tanzanite.

AMETHRIN

Ametrine is a very interesting, natural, two-color combination of amethyst and citrine (both are varieties of quartz). It is purple and yellow, and the boundary between the colors is usually blurred, causing the color to gradually transition from purple to yellow. A very interesting, unusual choice that goes well with both purple and yellow outfits.

The stones mentioned above are not the only purple gemstones. Sapphire, diamond, garnet, ruby, kunzite, coral, spinel, zircon, fluorite, and topaz can also be purple.
