What does the Australian Kangaroo 1/4 oz gold coin look like?

Originally, the coins featured an image of a gold nugget, which was changed in 1989 to an image of a marsupial. The reverse side also bears the inscription "Australian Kangaroo," which is the name of the coin, the year of issue, and its fineness and weight.

Depending on the year of production, the obverse of the coin features a different image of the monarch. Older coins feature Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, while newer coins issued after 2023 may feature a portrait of King Charles III. The changing image on the obverse makes each coin unique to its time, further enhancing its collectible and historical value.
