This gold coin was minted in 2021 to commemorate the Year of the Ox, the second of the twelve animals associated with the ancient Chinese lunar calendar. It weighs 1 ounce and is made of 999-fine gold. It comes in a protective plastic capsule. The coin, part of the third Lunar series, is a valuable addition to any Lunar collection.
The reverse of each coin features a straining ox amid bamboo shoots. The bamboo is meant to symbolize virtue. The design also includes the inscription “OX 2021,” the Chinese character for “ox,” and the Perth Mint’s “P” mark.
