The Vienna Philharmonic is the first bullion coin minted from pure gold issued in euros. Created in honor of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, this coin is sought after by investors from Europe, North America, and Japan, and is one of the most popular products offered by the Mint.

The impressive buildingof the Austrian Mint (Münze Österreich)– the coin manufacturer – is located in one of Vienna's most prestigious locations, where a state-of-the-art production facility is hidden behind a classic façade. It is here that hundreds of years of craftsmanship and tradition are combined with the latest money production technologies.

The owner of the company producing 450 million coins per year is the Austrian Central Bank, so the products of the Austrian Mint have government guarantees of purity.

The History of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

The Vienna Philharmonic coinhas been minted since 1989. The coin's design was created using computer graphics and then transferred to gold. According to the World Gold Council, in 1992, 1995, and 1996, the Philharmonic was the best-selling bullion coin in the world.

What does the Vienna Philharmonic 1/4 oz gold coin look like?

The obverse of the coin features the grand organ of the Musikverein concert hall in Vienna, where the orchestra is based. We can also see the value, weight, fineness, and year of minting.

The reverse depicts a number of symphonic instruments, including a harp, a cello, and several pairs of violins in an aesthetic arrangement, accompanied by interesting Wiener Philharmoniker typography.

Vienna Philharmonic coinsstand out as a globally recognized means of payment, making them easy to use for transactions anywhere where bullion coins are traded and precious metals are sold.

Please note: Coins minted before 2002 are in shillings, while coins issued from 2002 to the present are in euros. Coins are allocated randomly and depend on current stock levels.
