The reverse side features an image of a Tyrannosaurus rex standing over its prey. In the background are depictions of a lake, mountains, and other dinosaurs. The reverse side also includes the years during which this dinosaur lived on Earth, as well as the year the coin was issued. 

The obverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and includes the denomination, year of issue, face value, fineness, and weight of the silver coin.

Historical overview

Tyrannosaurus rex, also known as the "king of dinosaurs," is one of the most majestic and famous dinosaurs that ever lived. During the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 68–66 million years ago, it reigned over what is now North America. It was characterized by its impressive size—adult specimens reached a length of about 12 meters, a hip height of about 4 meters, and weighed up to 9 tons. Its powerful jaws were equipped with long, sharp teeth, making it a dangerous predator. The Tyrannosaurus was certainly one of the most terrifying hunters of its time. However, despite its powerful, menacing appearance, there is research suggesting that it may have also occasionally fed on carrion, indicating a more complex diet. Its extraordinary popularity among researchers and dinosaur enthusiasts stems from the fact that its remains have provided valuable insights into the prehistoric world, its social structure, and the ecosystems in which these majestic creatures lived.
