Product description
The Dragon silver coin was issued in 2024 as the sixth installment in the striking Mandala Collection series. Crafted from two ounces of 999-fine silver, it combines the motif of a mighty dragon with the rich, symmetrical ornamentation characteristic of mandalas. The collectible nature of the issue is emphasized by the Antique Finish, full-color digital printing, and a decorative Swarovski crystal. The combination of intense colors and detailed relief gives the design a distinctive, artistic character.
Appearance of the coin
The design stands out for its rich ornamentation inspired by the mandala form and a striking dragon motif. The obverse features the coat of arms of Niue and basic information regarding the issuer, face value, and coin specifications, surrounded by intricate, symmetrical decoration. The reverse depicts a stylized dragon’s head set within an elaborate mandala pattern. The composition is enhanced by vibrant colors achieved through digital printing and a green Swarovski crystal placed above the dragon’s eyes. The Antique Finish further highlights the relief details and the decorative nature of the design.
Historical overview
For centuries, the dragon has held a special place in the mythology and culture of many regions of the world. It is a symbol of strength, power, energy, and protection, and in Asian traditions, it also represents happiness, prosperity, and wisdom. Its significance is particularly deeply rooted in Chinese culture, where the dragon is seen as a creature that brings prosperity and remains one of the most important cultural symbols.
The coin’s design combines the motif of a dragon with a mandala—a geometric composition that has been associated with harmony, balance, and spiritual energy for centuries. The juxtaposition of these two symbols creates a multidimensional composition in which the dragon’s power and dynamism meet the ordered, symmetrical form of the mandala.
