Product description

The coin is part of a series dedicated to the most famous heroes of British myths and legends. This issue focuses on Lady Marion—one of the most important female characters in the Robin Hood stories, who has been a part of English folklore for centuries. The product combines the investment value of silver with historical and literary themes, making it an attractive option for both collectors and those seeking coins with a recognizable cultural motif. With its reference to the legends of Sherwood, this issue will particularly appeal to lovers of history, literature, and British folklore.

Appearance of the coin

The design evokes the atmosphere of medieval legends and brings to mind tales of adventures set in the dense forests of Sherwood. The design is characterized by a wealth of detail and a realistic depiction of the main character. The obverse features the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The image is centered and surrounded by elements identifying the issuer and the coin’s face value. The design remains classic and elegant, characteristic of contemporary British coin issues.  The reverse depicts Lady Marion traversing the forest wilderness. She is shown with a bow and a quiver full of arrows, amidst dense vegetation. Particular attention is drawn to the precisely rendered details of her costume, hair, and the surrounding leaves and branches, which create an atmosphere of mystery and adventure.

Historical overview

The coin was issued as the second installment in a series dedicated to British myths and legends. This series was created to commemorate figures who have been part of British culture for centuries and have become part of the nation’s heritage.

Lady Marion is one of the key figures in the legends of Robin Hood. Although she appeared only sporadically in the earliest accounts, she has been an integral part of the stories about the famous outlaw of Sherwood since the 16th century. She was portrayed as a brave, intelligent, and loyal companion to Robin Hood, supporting him in his fight against injustice. The coin was created to commemorate this character and highlight the importance of British folklore in contemporary culture.
