This 10-złoty silver collector’s coin, dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus, is a unique offering for investors and collectors seeking valuable numismatic items. Issued by the National Bank of Poland in 2017, it inaugurates the "Great Polish Economists" series, commemorating figures who made a significant contribution to the development of economic thought.

The coin is struck from 925 silver, weighs 14.14 grams, and has a diameter of 32 mm. Its proof finish highlights the precision of its craftsmanship and attention to detail, making it an attractive item for numismatic connoisseurs. The mintage of the coin is limited to 15,000 pieces, which enhances its uniqueness and potential investment value.

The reverse of the coin features an image of Nicolaus Copernicus holding a coin, symbolizing his contribution to the field of economics. In the background is an excerpt from *On the Coin*, a work in which Copernicus analyzed the phenomenon of currency depreciation and its impact on the economy. Along the edge of the medallion are the years of the astronomer’s life (1473–1543) and the inscription “NIKOLAUS COPERNICUS,” and along the rim is the inscription “TREATISE ON THE MINTING OF COINS.”

The obverse of the coin features the image of the eagle, the official emblem of the Republic of Poland, with the denomination "10 zł" and the year of issue "2017" below it. In the background of the medallion is a stylized excerpt from the "Treaty on the Coin," and on the right—three rings bearing the chemical symbols for gold (Au), copper (Cu), and silver (Ag), referring to the coin’s composition. The inscription "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA" runs along the rim.

Although Nicolaus Copernicus is best known as an astronomer, he made a significant contribution to the development of economic thought. In his "Treatise on Coinage," he described the phenomenon we now know as Gresham’s Law, which states that bad money drives out good. His observations on inflation and currency devaluation were pioneering and remain relevant to this day.

Investing in this coin means not only owning a valuable precious metal, but also an item of great historical and educational significance. Its limited mintage and meticulous craftsmanship make it an attractive option for those looking to enrich their investment portfolio with unique numismatic treasures.
