Description of the De Beers Diamond 2024 silver coin

This classic, cushion-like shape is one of the oldest diamond shapes and is highly sought after for its timeless beauty and sparkle. It was this shape that inspired the creation of this unique 999 silver coin, which is the fourth in a series of diamond-shaped coins with a diamond-covered top. Each coin has been masterfully sculpted to perfectly capture the patented cut of a 0.23-carat De Beers diamond with a perfect cushion shape, set on one of its vertices.

Only 600 coins were minted, so owning one in your collection makes you feel truly special.

Appearance of the De Beers Diamond 2024 silver coin

The coin is unique due to its distinctive shape and multifaceted design, which was recreated from a patented diamond cut pattern by Crossworks Manufacturing, known for its Ideal De Beers diamonds. One of the main points of the crown features a 0.23-carat diamond with a perfect cushion shape - the De Beers Ideal Cushion Cut Diamond. In addition, this coin has a unique feature - it contains a piece of Canadian mining history, as the diamond comes from one of the country's most prominent diamond mines. The year 2024 is engraved on another main point of the crown, and the largest surface features the inscription CANADA, the denomination 50 DOLLARS, and an image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

In addition, the obverse features a special marking containing four pearls symbolizing the four images of the Queen that adorned Canadian coins and the double date of the monarch's reign.

Historical overview

De Beers diamonds are not only among the most recognizable, but also the most valued gems in the world. They are renowned for their unmatched quality, exceptional brilliance, and rich history that dates back many years. De Beers plays a key role in the global jewelry industry as one of the leading diamond producers. The company's history began in 1888, when Cecil Rhodes and Barnett Barnato founded a company that quickly dominated the global diamond market, controlling most of the production. Through innovative marketing, they contributed to the rise in popularity of diamonds, promoting them as symbols of luxury and love. They are distinguished not only by their unique quality, but also by their careful selection, which makes them highly desirable on the market.

The company controls the entire diamond production process—from mining and processing to the creation of finished jewelry.

Manufacturer

As Canada's independence from Great Britain grew, so did the need to mint its own coins. Therefore, in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint was established and has since become one of the most important mints in the world. To date, all coins from the Royal Canadian Mint bear the portrait of the reigning British monarch. The Mint's shares are held in trust for the Canadian Crown. The Mint produces all Canadian circulation coins and designs and manufactures collectible coins made of precious metals - gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins, medals, as well as medallions and tokens. It also offers gold and silver refining services. Today, the Royal Canadian Mint sets the standard in minting technology and numismatic design, which is a testament to its position and reputation.
