Iridium is one of the rarest elements on Earth. Its name comes from the Latin word "iris," meaning rainbow. This is due to the striking and varied colors of its salts. Ir, which occurs naturally in the Earth's crust, is mainly found in combination with platinum and other platinum group metals (PGMs). However, its rarity makes it difficult to mine, contributing to its status as a valuable commodity.
Iridium is the most corrosion-resistant element and is rarer than gold and silver.
Iridium gives alloys the desired degree of hardness and brittleness. The chemical industry uses this valuable metal to coat anodes in chlor-alkali electrolysis as part of PVC production. There is high demand for iridium as a raw material for many future technologies. In addition to organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), this includes electrolysis for the production of green hydrogen. Together with platinum, iridium serves as a catalyst in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolysis.

Goods included in the so-called unsorted gold and silver may be an exception. The choice of bar manufacturer is made at random at the order fulfillment stage and depends on the Company's current stock levels.
