Do you like jewelry with black gemstones? For an exclusive look, go for diamonds, sapphires, or pearls. For a casual look, onyx or coral are good choices.
DIAMOND
Diamonds are not always colorless. The most expensive diamonds are those with so-called fancy colors. These are usually warm colors such as yellow, orange, or brown, but there are also pink, green, blue, and purple diamonds. There are also natural black diamonds. Black diamonds differ from colorless and colored diamonds in that they do not sparkle and do not transmit light. They are not as rare and expensive as fancy colored diamonds. The prices of jewelry with black diamonds are similar to those of jewelry with colorless diamonds.
SAPPHIRE
The most desirable sapphires are blue ones ranging in color from cornflower blue to navy blue to almost black. Indeed, sapphires with a deep, dark navy blue color are exceptionally beautiful. They go wonderfully with diamonds and white gold, although they also look good in yellow gold settings. Sapphires can also come in other colors. There are colorless, light pink, reddish, orange-red, purple, violet, green, gray, and brown sapphires.
PEARLS
Pearls come in a wide variety of colors. There are white, cream, yellow, pink, silver, blue, green, brown, gray, and black pearls. Black pearls available in jewelry stores are mainly Tahitian cultured pearls from French Polynesia. They are relatively large, usually with a diameter of 8 to 18 mm. ONYX
Onyx is a valuable variety of chalcedony with parallel layers of alternating white and black. Because it is a two-colored stone with layered colors, it was formerly used mainly for making cameos. Black onyx is relatively rare, which is why artificial onyx, obtained by dyeing agate (another two-colored variety of chalcedony), is often used in jewelry.
KORAL
Coral is usually associated with a characteristic shade of red (coral), but there are also black, white, pink, red, purple, blue, and even gold corals. We wrote more about corals in this post.
