This 200-dollar coin, made of pure gold, was modeled after a brooch presented to Queen Elizabeth II by the people of Canada in 2017. It commemorated her 65th anniversary on the throne and the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. Canada recognizes the British monarch as its head of state.
This 1-ounce coin, struck from 99.99% pure gold, features the delicate shape of a snowflake. The reverse of the coin features a captivating rendition of a sapphire jubilee brooch in the shape of a snowflake. The design, gleaming with platinum and delicately engraved, is adorned with eight magnificent blue sapphires that form an elegant frame around the center. Each coin, crafted with precision, features four round and four oval sapphires, which have been delicately set by hand to capture the essence of the original brooch. Furthermore, the image of the sapphire brooch is enhanced by a finely engraved relief that mimics the sparkle of diamonds. The intricate details, accented with platinum, shimmer with a winter-white glow, adding an extra touch of elegance.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, skillfully rendered by Canadian artist Steven Rosati. This portrait lends the coin a regal character, complementing the exceptional beauty of the sapphire brooch on the reverse.
