The Australian Kookaburra is a series of coins issued by The Perth Mint since 1990. It is dedicated to one of the most popular birds inhabiting Australia. It is also called the laughing bird by many because of the sound it makes, which resembles hysterical human laughter.
The coin presented here is made of 10 ounces of silver.
It is worth remembering that each year, coins from this series have a different reverse, which also makes them attractive to collectors.
Appearance of the 10 oz Kookaburra silver coin
On the reverse, we see a kookaburra sitting on a branch just above the water. The initials JG, which belong to the author of this design, Justin Graham, are visible on the branch. Above the bird is the name of the series, "THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA." The reverse also features the year of issue, weight, and fineness of the coin. The photo of the coin is for illustrative purposes only. The reverse may vary depending on the year of issue. Coins are allocated randomly.
The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials appear next to the image of the monarch. The inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA" are also included, as well as the coin's face value.
