The Canadian Maple Leaf is one of the most famous bullion coins in the world. The silver version has been produced since 1988.
The famous Maple Leaf gold coin, designed by Walter Otto, was issued in 1979 as a competitor to the Krugerrand. It is minted by the Royal Canadian Mint from gold sourced from local mines. Due to the great popularity of the gold coin among investors, a silver version was also introduced in 1988. Each coin has a government guarantee of weight and purity.
The obverse features the iconic maple leaf motif, accompanied by the fineness, weight, and the inscription "Fine Silver." The reverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (another version), the year of issue, and the denomination - 5 Canadian dollars.
