Silver coin Polish painters of the 19th/20th century: Aleksander Gierymski (1850–1901)
In 2006, the National Bank of Poland issued a silver collector coin with a face value of PLN 20, commemorating Aleksander Gierymski – an outstanding representative of Polish realism and a precursor of impressionism. This coin is the fifth issue in the "Polish Painters of the 19th/20th Century" series, which aims to honor the most important figures in Polish painting at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
An artistic presentation of Gierymski's works
The obverse of the coin features a stylized fragment of the painting "Jewish Woman with Lemons" from 1881, one of the artist's most recognizable works. Next to it is the image of the eagle established as the emblem of the Republic of Poland, the year of issue – 2006, and the denomination – 20 zlotys.
The reverse side of the coin features a portrait of Aleksander Gierymski, inspired by his "Self-Portrait with Palette" from 1891–1892. Next to it is a fragment of the painting "Feast of Trumpets" from 1890 and a painter's palette with four colors: red, yellow, green, and blue, along with three brushes.
Investment potential
The "Aleksander Gierymski" coin is an attractive choice for investors and collectors. Its limited mintage and inclusion in the prestigious "Polish Painters of the 19th/20th Century" series increase its collector's value. In addition, the use of color pad printing and the depiction of works by a famous artist make it a unique item on the numismatic market.
Summary
The 2006 silver collector coin worth 20 zlotys, dedicated to Aleksander Gierymski, is a unique piece combining historical, artistic, and investment value. It is an excellent choice for collectors and those looking for stable and valuable investments in precious metals.
