The reverse of the coin presents the original design from 1928, featuring a winged Nike walking to the right, surrounded by stylized ears of grain, which adds dynamism to the composition and refers to the theme of prosperity and work. On the left side is the inscription "Dzieje złotego" (The History of the Złoty), which identifies the theme of the series and indicates that the coin refers to the history of the Polish currency. The coin "History of the Złoty – Nike" refers to the history of the Polish currency in the interwar period, when, after regaining independence in 1918, the authorities of the Republic of Poland took steps to unify the monetary system. In 1924, the złoty was introduced as the official currency, replacing the previous temporary currencies, and in the following years, coins and banknotes were issued which, in addition to their nominal value, also carried symbolic content referring to independence, work, and the reconstruction of the state.
One of the most recognizable designs of that era was the image of Nike, the goddess of victory and freedom, which appeared on the 5 złoty coin from 1928.
