The Greater Poland Uprising, which broke out in December 1918, was one of the few successful Polish uprisings in history and was crucial to the shape of the reborn Polish state after World War I. The insurgents, organized into local units and commanded by experienced leaders, effectively took control of key cities and strategic points in the region.
