Product description

This is a unique numismatic item, created to commemorate an extremely important chapter in Polish history – the activities of the Polish Underground State during World War II. The coin serves as a symbolic reminder of the steadfast attitude, organizational wisdom, and courage that allowed Poles to maintain state institutions despite the occupation. This project is aimed at collectors who value items with a clear historical and cultural context, as well as those interested in topics related to resistance, national identity, and the memory of those times. It is an offer for those who want to have in their collection a coin that not only has material value, but also carries a profound message and serves as a reminder of the most important moments in our history.

Appearance of the coin

The coin has a distinct narrative and historical character – its appearance combines patriotic symbolism with a clear composition, thanks to which the theme of the Polish Underground State is conveyed directly and evocatively. The central motif on the reverse is a stylized bust of Major General Stefan Rowecki "Grot," one of the most important leaders of the underground movement during World War II, with a fragment of the Fighting Poland emblem and an element of an insurgent armband visible in the background, emphasizing the context of heroic struggle and national spirit. Surrounding this scene are inscriptions identifying the heroes of the underground resistance and commemorating their actions in 1939-1945, creating a deeply symbolic and historically grounded image. The obverse of the coin retains its official, representative style, dominated by the emblem of the Republic of Poland in the form of an eagle, next to which are inscriptions with the name of the country, the year of issue, and the denomination. and the whole is complemented by other heraldic elements and an inscription referring to the Fighting Poland emblem, which harmoniously combines the patriotic theme with the formal character of the issue.

Historical overview

The broadcast devoted to the Polish Underground State was created as a tribute to a historical phenomenon unique in Europe, namely the underground state structure operating in occupied Poland during World War II. Its aim was to preserve the continuity of Polish statehood despite the brutal reality of war and to subordinate the armed struggle and civil resistance to the legal authorities of the Republic of Poland.

The Polish Underground State was not limited to military activities. It created an extensive administrative, judicial, educational, and information network covering almost all areas of social life. It functioned as a real alternative to the structures imposed by the occupier, giving society a sense of order, continuity, and moral community.

Commemorating this phenomenon in the form of a collector's edition was intended to preserve the memory of the courage, determination, and organizational genius of thousands of anonymous participants in the underground movement. This project reminds us that the struggle for freedom was not only fought on the front lines, but also in the daily, quiet service to the underground state. The coin thus serves as a symbolic monument to history, addressed to future generations.
