This issue is dedicated to one of the world's most famous birds of prey – the peregrine falcon, which has long been a symbol of strength, speed, and perfect flight. The design highlights the importance of nature conservation and efforts to save endangered species, combining the theme of ecology with the tradition of Polish collector coinage. The reverse side is dominated by scenes of nature. The central motif is an adult peregrine falcon accompanied by two chicks sitting in a nest on a rock. Next to it, you can see a fragment of the landscape – a mountain range – which introduces the context of the birds' natural environment. The species name is inscribed in Polish and Latin around the composition, emphasizing the theme and significance of the species.
The obverse features an official, classic composition. It bears the emblem of Poland – a crowned eagle. Around it are inscriptions providing information about the issuer, as well as the denomination and date of issue. The whole is kept in a clear, orderly form, which contrasts well with the detailed, naturalistic image on the reverse.

For decades, the peregrine falcon had almost completely disappeared from our country as a result of the use of chemicals, environmental degradation, and human pressure. In the second half of the 20th century, it was still considered extinct in the wild in Poland.
At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, extensive reintroduction and active conservation programs were launched, thanks to which the birds gradually returned to their natural habitats. Aviary breeding, the installation of artificial nests, and constant population monitoring led to the restoration of the peregrine falcon population in the country.
The success of these measures has become one of the most striking examples of effective species protection in Poland.
The coin was issued to commemorate this story as a symbol of hope and human responsibility towards nature. The coin became a tribute to naturalists and organizations involved in saving endangered species, and at the same time a reminder that environmental protection brings real results.
