Rod is mainly used in exhaust filters. It is used in automotive catalytic converters for the chemical conversion of harmful nitrogen oxides into water, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. It is also used in catalytic reactions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Rhodium is also used as a coating for jewelry, eyeglass frames, and watches. It is also an important component of platinum alloys, which are used to manufacture high-temperature resistant components in the glass industry.

Why could rod be an interesting investment?

The global rhodium market is expected to grow by 5.7% annually until 2031, driven by demand for automotive catalysts and other industrial applications.
Limited availability and high demand, especially from the automotive industry, make rhodium unstable. Repeated shortages have led to record prices of nearly $30,000 per ounce in 2021. As a pure by-product of platinum and palladium, it is virtually impossible to increase rhodium production.
