100 złoty gold coin: Series of Polish Kings and Princes: Jan III Sobieski (1674–1696)
Gold collector coins issued by the National Bank of Poland have long been highly regarded by both history enthusiasts and investors seeking safe ways to invest their capital. A unique example of such an asset is the 100-złoty gold coin featuring the image of Jan III Sobieski, issued as part of the prestigious series "Gallery of Polish Kings and Princes." This coin was released on October 3, 2001, and has since become a sought-after component of a diversified investment portfolio.
Investment potential and collectible value
Choosing physical gold in the form of collectible coins is a proven strategy for protecting your assets against inflation. The Jan III Sobieski coin possesses two key characteristics that determine its rapidly rising market value: precious metal of the highest fineness and a very limited mintage. The National Bank of Poland decided to issue only 2,200 pieces of this coin. Such a low mintage means that supply on the secondary market is extremely limited, which, combined with steady demand, generates strong upward momentum for the coin’s price. From an investment perspective, coins from the Royal Series are characterized by high liquidity and an excellent rate of return, significantly outperforming standard investment products.
Exquisite craftsmanship and national symbolism
The coin’s aesthetic qualities go hand in hand with its material value. The coin was struck using a mirror die in 900-fine gold. The design of the obverse and reverse was created by the renowned artist Ewa Tyc-Karpińska. The reverse of the coin depicts a dignified bust of King Jan III Sobieski, beneath which is a panoply: a traditional shield (kałkan), maces, and battleaxes, symbolizing the ruler’s military might. At the top, on either side of the image, are the dates of the monarch’s reign: 1674 and 1696. The obverse is adorned with the centrally placed coat of arms of the Republic of Poland, the year of issue (2001), and the denomination, which confirms the full authenticity and legal status of this product.
