Product description

The gold coin issued to mark the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence is a prestigious commemorative coin designed to celebrate one of the key moments in the country's history. The issue is a symbolic memento of this momentous anniversary and a tribute to the generations who fought for Poland's freedom and sovereignty.

The coin is intended for collectors interested in Polish historical heritage, as well as for those who wish to have a valuable item with deep patriotic significance in their collection.

Appearance of the coin

The issue commemorating the 100th anniversary of regaining independence is an enlarged replica of the 1 złoty circulation coin (2017 design). It is made of gold and is characterized by the precision of minting using a mirror stamp, which gives it exceptional clarity of detail and a high gloss surface.

The reverse features a large, prominent denomination. The entire composition is surrounded by an ornamental wreath of oak leaves, replicating the reverse design of the commonly circulating 1 złoty coin.

The central motif of the obverse is the image of an eagle, established as the emblem of the Republic of Poland. The upper part of the rim features a semicircular inscription identifying the issuing country. The year of issue is located at the bottom of the coin, and the mint mark appears below the eagle, to its left. The coin's rim is finished with stylized rings, which lend elegance to the whole and emphasize the commemorative nature of the issue.

Historical overview

The gold collector coin with a face value of PLN 1, issued by the National Bank of Poland in 2018, was created as part of the nationwide celebrations of the centenary of Poland regaining independence in 1918. It was one of the key numismatic issues of the NBP, aimed at commemorating this momentous event, which marked the end of 123 years of captivity.

The coin was put into circulation on November 7, 2018, just before the main anniversary celebrations. Its primary purpose was to commemorate the centenary of sovereignty and to emphasize the symbolic significance of the Polish zloty as a sign of an independent state and its economic stability.

The issue is an enlarged version of the 2017 1 złoty coin in circulation, made of precious metal. The choice of the lowest denomination, presented in its purest form of gold and in an enlarged format, gave the design a special symbolic dimension, combining everyday money with historical, national, and numismatic value.
