TREND: WOMEN'S AND MEN'S WEDDING RINGS MADE OF TWO DIFFERENT METALS

Not so long ago, all wedding rings looked the same. They were simple bands, usually made of yellow gold. Then came the fashion for embellishments, especially on women's rings. Men's wedding rings remained minimalist gold bands. Women's rings were made of the same gold as men's, but decorated with zirconia or diamonds. How about two completely different wedding rings?

In May, we wrote about Meghan Markle's wedding jewelry. Do you remember what her wedding ring looked like? It was a simple band made of yellow Welsh gold (in keeping with British royal tradition). And what kind of wedding ring did Prince Harry have? Also simple, but made of platinum. In Poland, this is a rarity, but in Western countries, two different wedding rings are not that uncommon.

Buying two completely different wedding rings undoubtedly has its advantages. It allows you to choose the ring that you like best. This is an interesting alternative, especially for men. We recently wrote about metals that are gaining popularity in jewelry, such as titanium, tungsten, tantalum, cobalt, and steel. Jewelry made from these metals looks very impressive as men's jewelry, but is often visually too heavy for women. Two different wedding rings are therefore a great solution when the man prefers more massive jewelry and the woman prefers delicate jewelry.

On the other hand, two different wedding rings are "mismatched" rings. Wedding rings are a symbol of marriage. We are used to them being the same. They are the same because they show that the spouses are a couple, they "form a set" - like wedding rings. Two different wedding rings do not have this effect. It is only a matter of convention, symbolism, but it evokes associations.

Personally, we are traditionalists when it comes to wedding rings. Yellow or white gold, without decorations or with diamonds on the woman's ring, will always be the most beautiful in our opinion. Therefore, if you decide on two different wedding rings, we suggest a similar shape (if a different metal is used) or a repetition of a motif, e.g., a thin gold band from the bride's ring on the groom's tungsten ring.
