A necklace can make your neck appear longer or shorter than it really is. All you need to do is choose the right type and length of necklace. How can you do this?
It's simple. As a rule, long necklaces elongate the neck, while short ones (especially choker-style necklaces) shorten it. But let's start with the question: how long should the neck be?
IS THE NECK TOO LONG/TOO SHORT?
The ideal neck should be 1/3 of the length of the head (the length of the head is measured from the chin to the top), with the length of the neck measured from the shoulder line to the chin. For most women, this distance will actually be 1/3 of the length of the head, but some will still consider their neck to be too long or too short. Why? First of all, we have different shoulders. If you have straight shoulders, your neck will appear longer. If they are rounded and sloping, it will appear shorter. Another problem is the thickness of the neck. A thin neck will appear longer, a thicker one shorter.
Now that you know what type of neck you have, what's next?
SHORT NECK
A short neck can be elongated with the right necklace. For a necklace to elongate the neck, it should be long, ideally V-shaped. Why V-shaped? Because this shape is the most slimming. It works much better than U-shaped necklaces. How to achieve this effect? Just put on a chain with a pendant. Under the weight of the pendant, the chain will form the desired shape. Deep necklines, especially V-shaped ones, also elongate a short neck very well.
LONG NECK
We can shorten the neck with a short necklace. The best effect is achieved with a collar-type necklace, as it cuts across the neck horizontally and divides it into two parts, thus shortening and widening it. A choker-type necklace, which sits just above the collarbones, is also a good idea.
Just as a necklace can make your neck look longer or shorter, both necklaces and earrings can shape your face. Of course, you also need to remember to choose the right necklace for your neckline.
