How to match earrings to the shape of your face

A week ago, I explained why it is important to match the shape of a necklace to the shape of your face. Today, I will show you how to choose earrings. As with necklaces, the shape of earrings should contrast with the jawline (lower part of the face).

OVAL FACE

Anoval face is elongated and has a gently defined jawline. It is proportional, so if you have an oval-shaped face, you can wear almost any earrings. The least flattering are those that are similar in shape to your face.

OVAL FACE
ROUND FACE

A round face is wide and rounded, so it needs to be slimmed down. Long, narrow earrings that reach below the chin (as they elongate the face) or very short ones (as they do not widen it unnecessarily) are most flattering. Earrings with a sharp, distinctive shape look good.

ROUND FACE

A triangular face is narrow at the bottom and has a slightly pointed chin, which needs to be rounded. Large, round earrings ending at chin level will visually widen the lower part of the face.

TRIANGULAR FACE
SQUARE/RECTANGULAR FACE

A square/rectangular face has a sharp, angular jawline. Earrings should add subtlety, so narrow and delicate ones work best. They should not end at chin level so as not to visually widen the face.

SQUARE FACE
SIZE MATTERS

The size of the earrings should also match the size of your face, head, height, and overall figure. A petite woman looks better in delicate jewelry. Large accessories can overwhelm her visually. On the other hand, a tall and curvy woman looks better when she wears medium-sized jewelry and accessories. Very large jewelry can be worn by tall and slim women with a head and face proportional to their entire figure.
