Earrings are an accessory to an outfit, and accessories are chosen to match a specific style. So why ask how to match earrings to a hairstyle? First of all, poorly chosen earrings may be completely invisible, and secondly, depending on the hairstyle, the same earrings can have a completely different effect. So how do you choose earrings?
EARRINGS FOR SHORT HAIR
Short hair (up to the face line) allows you to show off your earrings. Hairstyles that expose the ears offer the most possibilities. Here, any earrings will be visible. In the case of short hair covering the ears, dangling earrings, both short and long, will be visible, but stud earrings will be hidden underneath. This does not mean that earrings should always be visible, at least not all the time. If we are choosing earrings for an evening outfit, they should definitely be visible. If it is a casual outfit, they may or may not be visible. But if it is a slightly more formal outfit, especially for work, it is a good idea to opt for discreet elegance and choose smaller earrings or earrings that will be visible, for example, when we comb our hair behind our ears.
For very short hair, choose delicate earrings for daytime wear and long (or alternatively short but striking) earrings for evening wear. However, do not overdo it with the size. Short hair allows earrings to stand out, so large ones may prove too overwhelming in relation to the face and the entire silhouette. In the case of short hair, it is also particularly important to choose the right shape of earrings to match the shape of the face .
EARRINGS FOR LONG HAIR
Long hair (shoulder length and longer) that covers the neck has its own rules. Here, the hair acts as a backdrop for the earrings, which means they will never be as visible as they would be on a bare neck. This has its advantages and disadvantages. Because earrings are less exposed with long hair, you can afford to wear slightly more elaborate jewelry and still achieve a subtle effect. On the other hand, earrings can get lost in your hair and be completely invisible. That is why during the day we suggest either larger stud earrings or short dangling earrings. In the evening, however, you can go completely crazy, because with long, loose hair, it is difficult to have earrings that are too large. It is worth paying special attention to the color. In order for them to be noticeable at all, they must be contrasting, so for light hair we choose dark jewelry (with dark stones), and for dark hair we choose light jewelry (with or without stones, as the precious metal itself will be sufficiently visible).
HAIR CLIPS FOR TUCKED-UP HAIR
We can treat tied-up hair in the same way as short hair. Tied-up hair allows the neck to be exposed, so earrings will also be clearly visible.
EARRINGS FOR ASYMMETRICAL HAIRSTYLES
An asymmetrical hairstyle is intriguing in itself, so the question is, should you distract attention from it with jewelry? Yes and no. It depends on the effect you want to achieve. An asymmetrical hairstyle enhances the effect. So during the day, it's better to go for discreet earrings, but in the evening, they can be large and eye-catching. An asymmetrical hairstyle will emphasize them even more.
LONG HAIR WITH ONE EAR EXPOSED
Long hair with one ear exposed is a sexy variation on an asymmetrical hairstyle. The hair provides a backdrop for the earrings, but at the same time, one ear is exposed and the earlobe is visible at all times. In this case, we also suggest the discreet charm of delicate earrings during the day, but in the evening we recommend large and expressive earrings or smaller ones with a large, shiny stone. The exposed ear allows the earrings to be displayed, but since only one earring will be visible, we can afford to be more daring than with short hair.
