Nearly 180 years ago, Queen Victoria set a new trend in wedding fashion. She wore a white ball gown to her wedding. Although white wedding dresses had been worn before, it was Victoria who made this trend permanent. To this day, a white ball gown wedding dress is a classic bridal outfit. We wear all the accessories appropriate for a white tie outfit, i.e., closed-toe heels, rich jewelry, a shawl or fur stole, and (if we feel like it) gloves.

A wedding dress can therefore be worn with a tiara, which looks great with a veil, a rich necklace, long earrings matching the necklace, and a wide bracelet. It is best to skip rings so that they do not compete with the wedding band. Instead of a tiara, you can also wear a richly decorated hair clip, which also looks great with or without a veil. If the dress itself is richly decorated, it is better to limit the amount of jewelry. On the other hand, in the case of a modest dress, eye-catching jewelry will add style to the entire outfit.

The bride's jewelry can be impressive and sparkling. Due to the white color of the dress, diamonds look beautiful with it. Pearls also look very good, especially when the dress is not snow-white, but, for example, ecru, pink, or blue. Pearls come in a wide range of shades, so you can easily match their color to the color of the dress. Colored gemstones that contrast with the color of the dress also go well with a light-colored dress.

What jewelry should you wear if the bride decides on a more modest, shorter dress? In this case, it is better to limit the amount of jewelry and choose a set that matches a cocktailor black tie outfitrather than a ball gown. First of all, do not wear a tiara. Instead, you can decorate your hair with a shiny hair clip.

In the case of a civil wedding, instead of a classic wedding dress, wear a short (knee-length) dress or an elegant suit, so there should be less jewelry. Earrings and a bracelet, or possibly a delicate necklace or brooch, are perfectly sufficient. Combined with a dress or suit, such a set of jewelry will look classy – without being excessive, but also without being too modest.
