Diamonds are the most valuable gemstones. Despite this, they not only complement the collections of the wealthiest, but also of all those who want to invest in a safe product that perfectly protects their capital, especially in times of inflation. The uniqueness of diamonds and their growing popularity is largely due to the uniqueness of each individual stone. Only an experienced cutter can give gemstones a unique shape so that light penetrates their interior in a magical way and reflects off their walls. It is precisely these beams of light that diamonds are famous for, and after being cut into the right number of facets, they are called brilliants.
Asinvestment products, these stones representa secure long-term capital investment. Diamonds are timeless and transnational, but their most important advantage is their mobility – diamond rings sometimes reach the value of a single-family home, yet they can be tucked away in your pocket and easily transported around the world, allowing you to carry your possessions with you. The mission of Mennica Skarbowa is therefore to supplement the investment portfolios of Poles, becoming, alongside precious metals, the best possible way to diversify the security of their own resources!
Diamond, the hardest of all precious stones
The uniqueness of diamonds stems from their extraordinary, delicate appearance. However, this delicacy has nothing to do with the durability of these precious stones, whichare considered to be the hardest minerals found in nature(10 on the Mohs scale). Diamonds are made up of carbon atoms and were formed billions of years ago under conditions of high pressure and extreme temperatures. It is therefore difficult to find two identical specimens, especially sincetheir final shape is determined by trained cutters. Thanks to them, today's market is filled not only with jewelry diamonds, but also with investment diamonds available to everyone!
Colored and colorless diamonds
At first glance, diamonds may differ in cut and size. It is also worth paying attention to their color. Among investment diamonds, we can distinguish between colored diamonds and colorless diamonds. In the case of the latter,a scale from D to Z is used, where: letters D-F indicate colorless diamonds; letters G-J indicate almost colorless diamonds; letters K-M describe muted diamonds; and letters N-Z indicate yellowish diamonds. As forcolored gemstones, according to the Fancy Color Research Foundation, they represent a smaller part of the market. However, due to their beautiful appearance, their popularity is growing. Colored diamonds come in shades of green, red, purple, blue, and yellow, while retaining their reflective properties, of course!
Types of investment diamonds – the 4Cs principle
When purchasing investment diamonds, you should follow the 4Cs rule, which refers to four important physical parameters of a given diamond! These are:
1. Color –the most important parameter in assessing the value of colorless diamonds and fancy-colored diamonds.

2. Weight (Carat)– a diamond's carat weight determines its mass, i.e., 1 carat (ct) is 0.2 grams. Among popular investment diamonds, stones with the following markings can be distinguished: .18; .25; .50; .75; 1.00; 2.00; 2.50; and 2.99.
3. Clarity –diamonds may contain minor imperfections, and their level is determined by the clarity scale. Stones that are almost flawless are called "Internally Flawless" IF. Those with large flaws are referred to as "Imperfect" P1, P2, P3.

4.Cut –refers to the proportions, symmetry, and polishof adiamond. It is therefore not a parameter relating to shape, but to the interaction of the diamond with the light falling on its surface!

In addition, the shape itself is an important parameter for investment diamonds. More sophisticated shapes are reserved for the jewelry industry, but it is worth highlighting the following commonly found diamond shapes:brilliant(the most popular shape),pear, oval, marquise, triangle, princess, baguette, cushion, asscher, octagon, emerald, and heart.

It should be emphasized that diamond prices generally start at around PLN 1,500, and the most expensive products intended for investment can cost up to several tens of thousands of zlotys. The value of diamonds is primarily determined by the 4Cs. In addition, the Rapaport Price List, a wholesale price list for colorless diamonds published every Thursday, is recognized in the industry. Why is it worth investing in diamonds?
Diamonds have seen a significant increase in value since the beginning of the economic crisis and rampant inflation rates in global economies. Investing in them is a guarantee of stability, but above all, it is appreciated by investors due to their ease of transfer and mobility. This makes them a practical asset in situations where it is necessary to move assets. Buying diamonds is thereforean excellent way to expand your investment portfolioandprotect your capital in unstable times.
