• Copper and its alloys (e.g., bronze): These metals are the most reactive, susceptible to corrosion and unfavorable color changes. It is best to store them in airtight containers that minimize exposure to air and moisture.
• Silver is a reactive metal that darkens over time (it becomes covered with a sulfide patina). To slow down this process, it is worth using caps, and when storing in boxes, special inserts or anti-tarnish paper can be used.
• Gold is a chemically stable metal and practically does not react with its surroundings. The main purpose of storing gold coins is to protect them from mechanical damage, such as scratches and dents. Hard capsules are the ideal solution here.

The golden rule of collecting: never clean coins! Remember the most important rule of numismatics: never try to clean coins on your own. The use of chemicals, polishing pastes, or even a simple cloth almost always leads to micro-scratches and damage to the original surface of the coin (including its valuable patina), which irrevocably reduces its collector's value.

Purchasing a safe becomes a sensible investment when the value of your collection becomes significant. It is difficult to give a specific amount, but often a few thousand zlotys (e.g., PLN 5,000) is taken as a guideline. Storing coins in a certified safe provides effective protection against theft, as well as fire or flooding.
