The year 2012 was the twelfth consecutive year of increases in the price of gold. The price of gold quoted in dollars rose by as much as 7.1%, from USD 1,565 per ounce to USD 1,676 per ounce. For Polish investors, however, it was the first year of declines. In 2012, the Polish currency strengthened by over 10% against the dollar, which resulted in a decline in the value of one ounce from PLN 5,390 to PLN 5,186 (by 3.8%). What will 2013 be like for the gold market? Most analysts say that the upward trend will continue. However, there are voices saying that the gold boom will end. Time will tell who was right in their predictions. However, the fact is that for several years now, there have been voices saying that gold is overvalued. Despite this, its prices continue to rise every year and it seems that nothing can reverse this trend.
