Until mid-May, precious metal prices continued the decline that began in April. However, in the second half of the month, the situation stabilized and prices began to consolidate. The exception was palladium, whose price rose steadily throughout May.

From the beginning of the month to May 29, the price of gold fell from $1,476 per ounce to $1,393 per ounce, a drop of 5.7%. In the meantime, it reached a low of $1,338 per ounce, $17 above April's low.
