An eternity ring, also known as an infinity ring, is a ring given to a wife as a symbol of eternal love. It should not be confused with a ring bearing the infinity symbol. An eternity ring resembles a wedding band, but is set with diamonds around its entire circumference.
Where did the eternity ring trend come from? In the 1960s, the international corporation De Beers found itself in possession of a huge quantity of small diamonds. The problem was that jewelry with large stones was in fashion at the time. What's more, small diamonds were not suitable for engagement rings, which required a single large stone. So what could De Beers do? Create a product that did not yet exist. The company developed a wedding anniversary ring consisting of many small diamonds. Paradoxically, the ring proved to be a great success and started a trend for smaller stones.
The eternity ring was created as a gift for a wife on her wedding anniversary after several years of marriage, but due to the growing popularity of diamond-studded wedding rings, it is now often purchased as a wedding ring. It is a beautiful alternative to a simple gold wedding ring and goes well with an engagement ring.
