THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS JEWELERS - PART THREE

There can be no talk of luxury without mentioning Paris. Cartier appeared in the first post in this series. Today, we will talk about Boucheron and Van Cleef & Arpels. And finally, the Russian synonym for French luxury: Fabergé.

BOUCHERON

The company was founded 160 years ago in Paris. Boucheron offers both classic and more modern jewelry. Almost all collections are decorated with precious stones. We were particularly impressed by the animal collection. It features wild cats, many species of birds (including hummingbirds), horses, snakes, dragonflies, deer, foxes, chameleons, turtles, elephants, and even a hedgehog, a panda, and a polar bear. It is absolutely charming, colorful, fun, and at the same time not overly sweet. In addition to jewelry, Boucheron also offers watches, perfumes, and sunglasses.

Van Cleef & Arpels

The story of Van Cleef & Arpels begins romantically with the marriage of Estelle Arpels and Alfred van Cleef. Eleven years later, in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels was founded, offering luxury jewelry and richly decorated accessories such as combs, powder compacts, cigarette cases, and richly decorated boxes for small items (The Minaudière). Van Cleef & Arpels invented a completely new way of setting precious stones (Le Serti Mystérieux). This technique allows stones to be set invisibly (no prongs or frames are visible). It is incredibly labor-intensive, which is why it is only used in the production of exceptionally exclusive jewelry. Apart from very rich, intricate, exclusive jewelry, Van Cleef & Arpels' contemporary range includes delicate, simple designs. Flowers and butterflies are a frequent motif. The company also offers watches and perfumes.

FABERGÉ

Everyone has probably heard of the famous Fabergé eggs. But did you know that Fabergé was also a highly regarded jeweler? He also created jewelry and elegant trinkets. What's more, the Fabergé brand still exists and has been creating luxury jewelry again since 2009. In fact, we should say that it has reemerged, as Fabergé Ltd. was founded in 2006 and purchased all rights to the Fabergé brand and trademark. It must be admitted that the comeback was in a style worthy of the Fabergé name. The company offers classic, very elegant jewelry, mainly colorful enamel and colored gemstones. It also does not shy away from diamonds. Many collections refer to the theme of Easter eggs. Sometimes literally, sometimes very subtly, but the egg motif appears in most Fabergé decorations.
