The price of a diamond is determined not only by its size, but above all by the quality of its cut and color. The cut determines the sparkle. The more perfect the cut, the more the stone sparkles, as it reflects more light. Color, or rather the lack thereof, is the second most important factor determining the value of a diamond. The more colorless it is, the more expensive it is. The more yellow it is, the cheaper it is. In addition to the quality of the cut and color, the clarity of the stone is also important. The clearer the diamond, the more valuable it is. Therefore, two diamonds of the same weight can vary greatly in price, even though they will look identical to you. So if the cheaper one looks nice and the jewelry is meant to be an accessory rather than an investment (in the case of investing in diamonds, these parameters are important), choose the cheaper one.
The type of cut also affects the price. There are nine basic cuts. If we take nine diamonds of the same weight, cut quality, color, and clarity, the most expensive will always be the round brilliant cut diamond. Diamonds with pear (teardrop), heart, marquise, or oval cuts will be cheaper. The cheapest will be those with Asscher, radiant, emerald, and princess cuts, so if you want a large diamond, look at jewelry with stones of this cut.
