STRANGE PLACES WHERE JEWELRY WAS ONCE WORN

When you think about it, the number of places where women can wear jewelry today is very limited. On a daily basis, we basically limit ourselves to earrings, necklaces, bracelets on our wrists, and rings. Of course, piercings are also an option, but they are not accepted by everyone. However, if we look at history, we can see that women used to have additional options.

Let's start with ancient times. In Mesopotamia, it was very popular among wealthy women to decorate their hair with jewelry. And what decorations they were! Crowns made of flowers and leaves, gold and many other elements that formed almost a helmet on the owner's head. Jewelry in the hair was also popular in subsequent centuries, but probably never on the same scale as in Mesopotamia. How about bracelets worn on the arms? A beautiful trend straight from ancient Egypt. Today, we sometimes wear them in the summer. Since we're already in ancient times, how about a crown or tiara? Yes, yes, they were worn so long ago. Today, you can also wear a tiara on a very special occasion such as a prom. If you are ever invited to a prom, a tiara will be a beautiful accessory. In ancient times and in the early Middle Ages, buttons did not yet exist, so brooches, pins, and large safety pins were used to fasten clothes. They were often very richly decorated. And so another way of wearing jewelry was created.

Wasn't a brooch pinned to a deep neckline a beautiful decoration? It is one of the most beautiful, forgotten trends, originating in the 17th century. At that time, dresses were worn that beautifully exposed the bust. The dress was decorated with a brooch pinned exactly in the middle, just above the cleavage. Another interesting, though not as charming, trend from this era was a string of pearls draped across the body from the shoulder to the waist. The 18th century, in turn, brought us something that everyone has recently come to appreciate again: the simple choker necklace. Dresses from the 18th century were so richly decorated that, in order to emphasize the richness of the dress, women tied a simple black ribbon around their necks. The contrast between the simple ribbon and the dress further emphasized the richness of the dress.

Where else could jewelry be worn? After all, the surface area of a woman's body is limited. However, in the second half of the 19th century, elegant ladies came up with something else. They used cameos, popular since ancient times, to wear them in a new, unconventional way. They pinned brooches with cameos high under their necks instead of necklaces, which went perfectly with the high collars of their dresses.

As you can see, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings are not everything. Although these were always worn, fashionable women from previous centuries could be very creative. Wouldn't it be great if some of these trends came back?
