IS IT WORTH BUYING JEWELRY FOR CHILDREN?
Little girls love to dress up. Two-year-olds squeal with delight at the sight of their mother's jewelry, try it on, and look at themselves in the mirror. Older girls proudly show their friends their new bracelet with Elsa from Frozen on it. Not to mention teenagers who want to dress like grown women. Some parents don't like it, but there are also those who buy their daughter her first gold ring. The first real piece of jewelry she will be allowed to wear whenever she wants.
By showing girls what we wear, with what and on what occasions, we develop their style and sense of taste. When they grow up, dilemmas such as what jewelry to wear to work (school), what to wear to a party, and what to wear with a summer dress, cease to be dilemmas. The choice is obvious. It's like taking children to a restaurant. If they accompany us from an early age, as adults they know how to behave and what to order, and the whole situation does not intimidate them. By buying jewelry for children, we also shape their good taste. Even when we choose a cat pendant, we have an influence on the choice of cat (kittens come in more than just the Hello Kitty version).
JEWELRY FOR BOYS
A little boy has fewer dilemmas than a girl, but he also has to learn when to wear a watch on a leather strap, when to wear a metal bracelet, and when he can afford neon plastic. Besides, jewelry is no longer the domain of women. To see this for yourself, just browse any men's fashion blog. While little boys think jewelry is for girls, older boys are starting to wear leather bracelets, wooden beads, and thick silver bracelets.
JEWELRY FOR GIRLS
Girls want to look pretty. That's how girls are. What girl wouldn't be happy to receive jewelry? Since children grow quickly, earrings are the best choice. The problem of size does not apply to pendants either. You can always hang them on a longer chain. The most short-term choice is a ring and bracelet. Because their size must be well-fitted, they can quickly become too small.
There is also the choice of style. Classic and mature, less serious but still universal, or typically childish? For everyday wear, choose something that the child likes (a dog, cat, horse) or a universal model (flowers, geometric shapes) that she can wear as a teenager or even as an adult woman. If, on the other hand, the jewelry is to be worn on special occasions, it is worth considering classic jewelry (especially if we are buying it as a First Communion gift, i.e., choosing something more expensive). This will help the child understand that there is a difference between everyday clothing and clothing for special occasions.
