When you think of a ball gown, you probably imagine a wide, flared dress with a tight corset, suitable for a ball at the Queen of England's palace. However, it can also be worn to a carnival or New Year's Eve ball, as well as to particularly formal weddings, if the organizers require this type of attire. A white ball gown is also a classic bridal outfit. Made of luxurious fabric, often richly decorated, it provides a beautiful setting for jewelry. While moderation is recommended on all other occasions, it is appropriate to wear many accessories with a ball gown.

Jewelry made of precious metals, diamonds, gemstones, or pearls will be most appropriate. Although today's trends recommend moderation in the choice of jewelry, in the case of white tie attire, this rule applies to a minimal extent. Not only can you wear earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, a ring, and a tiara at the same time, but you can also combine elements from a set that are close to each other, which is discouraged in other situations. Therefore, it would be appropriate to combine earrings and a necklace or a bracelet and a ring from the same set.

Hair can be adorned with a richly decorated hair clip or tiara.

Although numerous decorations are not considered inappropriate in the case of white tie attire, a richly decorated dress combined with impressive jewelry could be excessive. In the case of a dress without embellishments, especially one with a very simple cut, wearing a large amount of jewelry will add style to the entire outfit. A balance should also be maintained between the dress, jewelry, and other accessories. While shoes are usually invisible and therefore not very important, items such as a handbag, scarf, or gloves can also be decorative elements of the entire outfit. The more modest the dress and accessories, the more jewelry you can wear.
