YELLOW GOLD
Yellow gold is most often obtained by combining gold with copper and silver. Yellow gold goes perfectly with warm-colored gemstones, such as blood-red rubies. Light yellow gold also provides a beautiful setting for diamonds.
WHITE GOLD
White gold is obtained in various ways. To obtain a white color, it is combined with metals that are white (e.g., palladium), and to obtain a silver effect, the jewelry is rhodium-plated, i.e., covered with a layer of rhodium. The rhodium layer wears off over time, and to obtain the original silvery effect, the jewelry must be rhodium-plated again. White gold can also be obtained without rhodium plating by combining gold with nickel. However, it should be remembered that many people are allergic to nickel. White gold perfectly highlights the beauty of diamonds. It also goes beautifully with cool-colored gemstones, such as sapphires.
PINK AND RED GOLD
The pink and red colors of gold are obtained by adding copper. Copper is also used in the production of yellow and white gold, but in different proportions. Pink and red gold are best combined with warm-colored stones, such as rubies, or pink pearls, for example.
VERMEIL GOLD
The recently popular vermeil gold is simply silver covered with a layer of gold, which gives it a golden color. Standard vermeil gold is 925 silver covered with 10-karat gold with a thickness of at least 2.5 micrometers. In a more luxurious version, the silver is covered with higher-grade gold.
When choosing gold, we do not have to decide on the color of the jewelry at the same time. This is important because not every woman suits the color gold. An interesting idea is jewelry that combines two or even three colors of gold.
